About the Association
Nicknamed the "Forends", this site is intended to provide some background on this nuclear powered, Polaris submarine, her history and her crew and, should you be interested and eligible, to invite you to join the association and meet your crewmates again.
HMS Resolution was commissioned in 1967 and decommissioned in 1994 and is currently laid up in Rosyth Dockyard along with her fellow SSBN sister ships, HMS Repulse, HMS Renown and HMS Revenge until such times as the RN can dispose of them in a suitable way. She Resolution served her country for 27 years and an educated guess would put potential lifetime crew numbers in the thousands.
The initial idea for the HMS Resolution Association came from several ex-crew members making contact after many years out of the service. The members' site contains a photo gallery and forum for the ex-serving members to post their comments on both their time within the service and their life since leaving.
The aim of the association is to bring together some of the surviving members to talk over old times, to forge new friendships, and to share a common interest -
HMS Resolution and her crew.
